What can each role see in Orbit?

What you see in Orbit depends on your role. Operators see everything for their organisation; shippers, carriers, and drivers each see only their own slice — so a shorter list or a leaner view is often the system working exactly as designed.
Note: This is fully configurable and can be adjusted to your needs using Orbit's Roles and Permissions System!

Orbit shows each type of user a deliberately different view, through a different app:

  • Operators work in Orbit MissionControl and see the full picture for their organisation — every Order, Shipment, and Tour, with both customer and carrier pricing.

  • Shippers (the customers who book) use Orbit Hub and see only their own bookings — their own Orders and Shipments, never anyone else's.

  • Carriers use Orbit Connect and see only the Tours assigned to them and their own agreed rate. A carrier never sees the Order, the customer, or the price the customer paid.

  • Drivers use Orbit Cockpit and see the Tour they need to run — its stops and loads — but no prices and no offers.

Because of this, a list that looks short, or a page with some fields blank, is often the role working as intended rather than a fault: each role is shown only what it needs to do its job. If you genuinely can't see something you should, an administrator can review the role. Roles can also be tailored per organisation, so a role's exact reach may differ between Orbit customers.

Example

A Tour from Berlin to Warsaw is run by a carrier for the operator Orion Industries. In Orbit MissionControl the operator sees the customer's Order, the price ACME Ltd paid, and the rate agreed with the carrier. The carrier, in Orbit Connect, sees the Tour and its own rate only. The driver, in Orbit Cockpit, sees the stops to drive and the goods to load — and no figures at all.
